Government and Politics
The form of government used in the Osean Republics is a Republic with a parliamentary system of government. Derek Leno is the current President. The President is represented himself in the House Of Commons as part of his political party.
There are three branches of government:
The legislature: The House of Parliament, comprising the President, and the Supreme House Of Commons; the President represents himself, who by convention acts on the advice of his or her Ministers.
The executive: the Executive Presidential Council (the Presideny as advised by the Presidential Councillors); in practice, the councillors are the President and Ministers of State.
The judiciary: the High Court of the Osean Republics
The Supreme House of Commons consists of the President and a House of Representatives of 349 members. Members are elected from solar constituencies, commonly known as "electorates" or "seats", allocated to states on the basis of population, with each original state guaranteed a minimum of five seats. There are three major political groups that form government, in the states: the Conservative-Liberal Party, the Socialist Party, and the New Reform Party. The Conservative-Liberal Party came to office with Derek Leno as President when the Osean Conservative and Liberal Parties merged together. The original Party came into power following the August 814 election.
